I have to say, this is something I particularly have very strong feelings about. I think one of the best actions folks in our profession can take, includes educating those outside our profession. This means educating not just Volunteer Administrators, but corporate citizen and corporate responsibility professionals, folks who work in sustainability, human resources, and c-level executives. Human capital is the most valuable asset on this planet, so it’s our job to demonstrate that in a way that others understand, digest and want to champion. So yes, be bold! Educate others outside of volunteer management, because it’s only once they (society and our culture) understand that our profession is more valued.
